Research activities for foreign medical students/residents/physicians

Rotation could be done at any time during the year. A minimun of 4 weeks is also recommended.  

There are two possibilities. First one, the participant could join an ongoing research at IMT. His/her application must be evaluated and accepted by the Principal Investigator/Head of the Laboratory.

Principal areas of research at IMT are: tuberculosis, VIH-SIDA, HTLV-1, malaria, leishmaniasis, diarrheal diseases in children, and bacteriology (brucelosis, bartonelosis,  nosocomial bacteria).

Other possibility is that the participant has its own project. This project must be financed. There is no possibility of finantial support at IMT.  An IMT member needs to be his/her mentor. The project needs to be evaluated and accepted by the mentor, the IMT comittee, and the Institutional Ethic Committe of Cayetano Heredia University (if it is necessary). The participant is responsible to obtain these approvals before starting the project. This process takes 3 months approximately.
