Foreign currency exchange
The official currency is the nuevo sol, represented by the symbol “S/.”. Most business establishments accept dollars at the daily exchange rate. Currency exchange service is available at the cash register in most Reception area of the hotels 24 hours a day. Additionally, you may exchange dollars and euros at banks.
Climate
The city of Arequipa has a semi-dry, temperate climate, with a mean maximum temperature of 21ºC and a minimum of 7ºC. During the day it is warm and in the evening, the temperature drops. The coldest months are from June to September.
Taxis
It is best to avoid taking a taxi cab on the street; we recommend that you request one at your hotel reception desk, or use the buses provided by the congress. It is not customary to tip the driver.
