AWARDS

 

1.- Dr. Eduardo Gotuzzo received the Prize “Esteban Campodónico Figallo-2005” in the Area of Distinguished Professional Activity, after being proposed as candidate by UPCH.

 2.       Dr. Alonso Soto won the Hipólito Unanue Prize. It is the most prestigious national award in medical research, given out every three years. It is granted to the scientific paper which shows the most relevance, methodological quality and the largest contribution to medical knowledge. The title of the Paper is: “Evaluation of two fast, liquid-phase culture methods for tuberculosis at a national hospital”. 3. Biologist Iván Best won the “Guerrant International Travel Grant” award to attend the 43rd Annual Meeting of the Infectious Diseases Society of América (IDSA), carried out on October 6-9th, 2005 at San Francisco, USA. He presented the paper “HTLV-I Proviral Load and Spontaneous Immune Response in Peruvian Patients with Rapidly Progressive HTLV-I-Associated Myelopathy/Tropical Spastic Paraparesis”.

4. Dr. César Ugarte won the "Guerrant International Travel Grant" award to attend the 43rd Annual Meeting of the Infectious Diseases Society of América (IDSA), carried out on October 6-9th, 2005 at San Francisco, USA. He presented the Poster: Cardiovascular Complications of Acute Human Bartonellosis by Bartonella bacilliformis (Oroya Fever).

5. Biologist Fiorella Rossi won a scholarship to attend the Latin American Congress on Immunology, at Córdova, Argentina (October 2-6) to present the abstract: “Analysis of the cellular immune response in patients with active pulmonary and extrapulmonary tuberculosis.
